Lionel Lee Hector, Lieutenant Colonel, United State Army, (Infantry) Retired, is a sole
practitioner in Watertown, New York with a practice concentrated in family and matrimonial
law, small business law, federal criminal law and real estate. Attorney Hector represents clients

Lionel Lee Hector was born in East Hampton, New York in 1942. He enlisted in the
Army in 1963 in Miami, Florida and spent the first 5 years of his military career as an enlisted
man, reenlisting after his first 3 year term. He attended infantry officer candidate school at Fort
Benning, Georgia and was commissioned a second lieutenant of infantry in May 1968. His 23
year career included service in the far east (Vietnam)with the Army’s Special Forces, Korea, and
Europe. In the course of his military service, he obtained an undergraduate degree in political
science from Columbus State University, Columbus, Georgia, a masters degree in international
relations from the University of Kansas at Lawrence and met several advanced military
educational requirements including graduation from the Army Command and General Staff
College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and the Department of Defense Language Institute, West
Coast (German), Monterey, California.. Among his military awards are the Legion of Merit, the
Bronze Star, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.
Hector is also an accomplished, albeit retired, free-fall and military parachutist,
jumpmaster and instructor having been awarded both US and Vietnamese airborne wings. He is
a retired FAA certified airline transport pilot and certified flight instructor with more than 10,000
flight hours. He is currently certified as an advanced emergency medical technician (AEMT-CC)
in the State of New York and holds an advanced amateur radio license (KG2BP).
Attorney Hector is also an avid skier, both alpine and nordic. He enjoys golf and
recreational boating in the summer. He is an accomplished musician; he plays the piano, the
trombone and sings just about anything with just about anybody.
Attorney Hector commenced his own law practice in 1998 at the age of 56, graduating
from the State University of New York at Buffalo in that year. While he concentrates his efforts
in the areas of matrimonial and family law, small business law and real estate, he enjoys the
latitude to take on unusual or worthy cases outside of his usual practice areas. For his military
experience, he is particularly adept at representing military members whose legal problems need
to be addressed in New York State and federal courts and he is, of course, qualified to practice
before all military tribunals convened under the Uniform Code of Military Justice and the
Manual for Courts Martial.
Attorney Hector was originally admitted to practice in the states of New York and
Massachusetts in 1998 but is on inactive status in the latter now. He is also admitted to practice
before the Northen Federal District of New York.
